The Shipwrecks Gallery reveals the stories of mutiny and murder at the Houtman Abrolhos Islands when the Batavia wrecked in treacherous reef in 1629. The impressive Batavia portico stands proud as a relic of the precious cargo the Batavia had on board. Other stories in the Gallery include the Vergulde Draeck (Gilt Dragon) (1656), Zuytorp (1712), and the Zeewijk (1727) with exhibits of salvaged treasures such as coins, ceramics and cannons.
